Ohio's New 9-8-8 Crisis Hotline: What Does This Mean for You and Your Family?

9-8-8 is now available nationwide to call or text in order to reach a trained counselor who can offer help and support during a mental health, substance use, or suicidal crisis.

When you call or text 988, you will be connected to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network, made up of around 200 crisis call centers and   national backup centers. That means anyone, anywhere in the country can   contact 988 during a mental health crisis and be connected with a trained   crisis counselor who can listen, provide support, deescalate the situation   and connect you to additional resources that might help. The Lifeline can   respond to any type of mental health crisis or emotional distress. It is free, confidential and open to a person in crisis or someone calling on behalf of another.
The availability of 988 will help save lives.

It took two years of dedicated work leading up to this day. The availability of 988 is a great step to helping people in crisis and their families.

Today, getting connected to help became easier for people during a mental health crisis. Now, we need to build and expand resources so everyone in a   crisis can receive the help they need and deserve.

DEA Illegal Pill Warning

DEA Warns that Pills Purchased Outside of a Licensed Pharmacy are Illegal, Dangerous, and Potentially Deadly Facts About Counterfeit Pills:

  • Criminal drug networks are mass-producing fake pills and falsely marketing them as legitimate prescription pills to deceive the American public.
  • Counterfeit pills are widely available, and DEA and its law enforcement partners are seizing deadly fake pills at record rates.
  • Counterfeit pills are more lethal than ever before. The number of DEA-seized counterfeit pills with fentanyl has jumped nearly 430 percent since 2019. DEA lab testing reveals that 2 out of every 5 pills with fentanyl contain a potentially lethal dose.
  • The only safe medications are ones prescribed by a trusted medical professional and dispensed by a licensed pharmacist.
